Leisure activities in Boppard
Chairlift
one of the highlights is a chairlift ride to the "Vierseenblick", the view of
the four lakes. It takes 20 minutes to the hilltops with a spectacular birds eye view down
to the great winding river Rhine. The chairlift is in operation from April to the 31st of
October.
Rhine Express - The mini-train offers a 40-minute tour around Boppard, past the remains of
the fortifying walls dating back to the Romans and the Middle Age, past the Romanesque and
Gothic Parish Church of St. Severus and Carmelite Church, and many other historic
edifices.
Guided tour through Boppard - A guided tour will bring alive Boppards past history. Tours
in English take place Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m., starting point: Tourist Office Boppard. For

Museum - The towns museum is housed in the part of of the Electors castle built in 1340:
pre- and early history, and sacral art are exhibited in the tower.
Bentwood Furniture - More than 100 examples of Thonet furniture are exhibited in honor of
one of Boppards sons, Michael Thonet, the inventor of the Bentwood technique. Open from
April to October, Tu-Su. 10:00 to 12:00 a.m. and 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. No entrance fee. For
guided visits please contact the local Tourist office.

1st Saturday in July - near Bingen/Rüdesheim; 2nd Saturday in August - near Boppard to
Koblenz; 2nd Saturday in September - St. Goar/ St. Goarshausen.
Rheinuferfest: 3rd weekend in July from Friday - Sunday. Catering stands along the
riverbank in Boppard with music and entertainment, fireworks and tombola.
Cyclists weekend: "Tal to Tal" - last Sunday in June national roads along the
riverbank between Koblenz and Bingen are for cyclists only. Fun and entertainment with
radio and TV on Boppards Market place.
Carnival in Boppard: Week "end" from the 2nd to the 8th of March 2001 with
fancy-dress parties, and processions in Koblenz and Mainz. Evening procession in Boppard.

From the motorway A61, Koblenz-Mainz, exit Boppard, to the B327, turn right, after 50
meters turn right again. When you reach Boppard go straight under the railway underpass
onto the Karmelitenstrasse, after about 50 meters turn to the street
"Rheinallee".
